How it works
Log to finished grade, in the right order.
Each stage is a numbered section of one effect, and they always run in this order, so the look gets a clean, well-exposed picture every time.
- 01Camera conversionLog to Rec.709 with each maker's published math, not a LUT file. One shared tone curve, so a Sony and a drone match on the same scene.
- 02White balanceKelvin and Tint in real scene light, before the conversion, like the camera's own. Drop the WB Target on something neutral and the whole clip is corrected.
- 03Exposure and toneExposure in real stops, black point, shadows, highlights, a Peak Highlights control for windows and skies, Clip Protect, contrast with an adjustable pivot.
- 04PrimariesLift, Gamma, Gain and Offset in Resolve's order, with optional wheels right in the viewer.
- 05Look35 built-in looks in seven groups, or your own look LUTs, with Look Intensity from 0 to 100%.
- 06FinishMatte, Halation, Pro-Mist Glow, Clarity, Sharpen, and Yellow and Orange Desat to tame tungsten walls.
- 07Vignette and edgesA vignette you shape in the viewer, Edge Blur for a vintage lens, and Lens Fringing.
- 08GrainFilm grain with size and animation.
- 09LetterboxScope, Flat, Cinemascope, Univisium, 9:16, 4:3 or 1:1, with an offset to reframe. Rendered into the export.
Cameras
15 log profiles, matched to each other.
Each camera is converted with its maker's own published math, then shares one tone curve, so a Sony and a drone shot of the same house match.

Spearhead is our house look: warm skin, teal-leaning skies. Every look was reviewed one by one on real footage by the Spearhead team.
And
Made for a working edit.
- Presets11 starting points for Sony S-Log3, DJI D-Log and D-Log M: interior, bright windows, exterior, bright sun, twilight. Save your own, share them as files, and see at a glance which preset a clip uses.
- Your own LUTsImport 3D .cube LUTs (Resolve exports work) as camera conversions or looks. Adding LUTs never changes clips you have already graded.
- Before and afterEvery section has its own on/off switch, and Final Cut's Reset puts everything back.
- Four effectsSpearhead Color System does everything. Convert, Grade and Finish split it up, and Finish works well on an adjustment layer.
- Safe updatesProjects open looking the same after an update. A renamed look maps to its closest match, never to nothing.
- FastThe core grade is a single GPU pass, quick even at 4K. Glow and blur effects add a little on top.
In Final Cut
Six steps to a graded shoot.
Find it in the Effects browser under Spearhead Media. On a fresh clip nothing changes until you choose a camera, a look or a setting.
- Drag Spearhead Color System onto a clip or an adjustment layer.
- Pick your camera's log profile.
- Drop the WB Target on something neutral, or set Kelvin and Tint.
- Set Exposure, then pull Highlights or Peak Highlights for windows and sky.
- Choose a look and set its intensity.
- Add Halation, Matte, Vignette or Grain to taste, then save it as a preset for the rest of the shoot.
Your license
One serial, two Macs, free updates.
- Two Macs per serialActivate on two Macs. Move to a new one any time by deactivating the old one, in the app or on your order page.
- Works offlineOnce activated, a Mac never needs to check in. The plugin itself never goes online.
- Free updatesThe app checks once a day (you can turn that off) and installs updates in place, keeping your activation, presets and LUTs.
- Projects always openWithout a serial the effect still works, with a watermark, so a project never fails to open or render.

FAQ
Good to know.
Still have a question? support@spearheadmedia.com. A real person, usually the same day.
Does it work in DaVinci Resolve or Premiere Pro?
Not yet. 1.0 is for Final Cut Pro on the Mac. Resolve and Premiere versions are planned next, with no dates promised.
Do I need to know color grading?
No. Pick your camera and a look and you are most of the way there; the presets cover the common real estate and drone situations. Everything else is there when you want it.
Does it grade HDR?
No. It grades in Rec.709. In a wide gamut library it converts to Rec.709, grades and converts back, so colors outside Rec.709 are clipped. HDR delivery is not supported in 1.0.
Is my camera supported?
The 15 log profiles are listed above. If yours isn't there, add its conversion LUT as a .cube file and it appears in the camera menu.
Can I use my own LUTs?
Yes, 3D .cube LUTs, as camera conversions or as looks. Sizes from 2 to 129 work, including Resolve exports.
Are the looks sold as a LUT pack?
No. The 35 looks are part of the plugin and run inside it.
What does the app send over the internet?
Only what activation and updates need: your serial, a hardware hash and your Mac's model (never its name). The plugin itself never goes online, and you can turn the daily update check off.
What happens when I get a new Mac?
Deactivate the old one in the app or on your order page, then activate the new one. Each serial works on two Macs at a time.
When does it ship?
Releases 6 November 2026. Your serial is on your order page and in the release email.
